Zuckerberg’s Quest To Overtake Apple Vision Pro

Zuckerberg’s Quest To Overtake Apple Vision Pro

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO and founder of Meta (formerly Facebook), recently released a video critiquing the newly-released Apple Vision Pro and comparing it’s features to his Quest headset.

His goal was to establish that Quest is, indeed, a better, more affordable alternative to the acclaimed Apple Vision Pro. The video of himself sitting down, interviewed on his couch, came out just after he tried out Apple’s Vision Pro for the first time.

Quest's Superior Features Unveiled

Zuckerberg assumed that Quest would be a more affordable alternative for an advanced headset. After getting a feel for Apple’s product, he concluded that not only is Quest cheaper, but it is a higher quality product.

Mark mentioned that Quest 3 has higher quality passthrough, which is a buying point for VR enthusiasts. Also, Mark mentions that Quest weighs 120 grams less, making a large weight difference on the head.

Zuckerberg did give Apple some of the benefit of the doubt, admitting that their product has a higher resolution (4k-per eye) but was surprised at all the tradeoffs they made to get that, such as decreased comfort and ergonomics.

A charismatic Zuckerberg explained that, just because something is more expensive, doesn’t mean it’s the better deal in general, and that Quest (putting its affordable price aside) still outperforms when it comes to the range of features.

Both Apple and Meta continue to make significant technological progress and it’s anyone’s game as to who comes out on top with their newest innovations.

Latest Apple vs. Meta Market Performance

Meta is currently doing exceptionally well in the marketplace. Jan. 19, 2024, the cost-per-share of Meta was $390. Only 19 days later, the current price per share has skyrocketed to $473.

The prevailing reason for this business growth likely comes after large-scale spending costs that were arising from asset accumulations and A.I. research. This indicates Meta’s (at least present) promising, bullish future. One of Meta’s current goals is to make significant progress with general Artificial Intelligence—a goal it is on track to fulfilling.

Past 6 Months Stock Performance (Apple)

Conversely, Apple’s stock has decreased only $3.00 from Jan. 31, with the past $185 per share down to $182. Apple is currently facing a half billion euro fine for allegedly blocking apps on their app store; one of which accusers is famously Spotify.

One of Apple’s current plans is to expectedly release its new iPhone 16 and IOS 18 by the Fall of 2024. Along with this, is a goal to switch to 100% renewable energy—a costly initiative that could possibly slow progress with their other developments.
