The State of CSS in 2023, OpenAI Announces ChatGPT Enterprise, and the Implications of AI on the Working World
In this CodeLetter we go over the release of the latest State of CSS Survey, ChatGPT going Enterprise, IBM announcing watsonx, and the arms race for AI developers (With pay up to $900k from companies such as Netflix).
The State of CSS In 2023 (Everything You Need To Know)
The State of CSS in 2023 has released statistics and survey data on the leading CSS frameworks. This data varied from retention and interest over time, opinions when it came to experience, and a positive and negative split in whether users would use the framework again.
Based on the survey results, the average user was pleased with the overall state of CSS in 2023. 27.5% had positive experiences, 29.4% were neutral, and only 4.9% were unhappy overall. From the available UI frameworks referenced on the survey, the most popular was Tailwind CSS and the least popular being Bootstrap.
Between these two frameworks, Bootstrap has surprisingly had the most awareness and usage, with Tailwind slowly gaining more traction since 2019. Tailwind has also consistently stayed at the top of the CSS frameworks when it comes to retention and interest. This led to the conclusion that not only is this framework set to become the most used framework, but also has the most popular feedback from users.
These types of surveys are integral for the optimization and styling of these platforms. With direct user input and feedback, developers have a much better understanding of positive and negative user experiences and could be improved upon in these UI frameworks.

OpenAI Presents Enterprise ChatGPT Offering
OpenAI has recently announced ChatGPT Enterprise, their most powerful and secure version of the AI to date. Enterprise offers the latest version of GPT, longer context windows, more advanced customization and data analysis options, and allows for more advanced input from users. With the integration of GPT4, OpenAI touts the service will have no usage caps and will be up to two times faster than previous versions.
One of the major draws for this new Enterprise service is the accessibility for larger business data entries. With the larger conversion of AI into the business world, more and more businesses are seeking this style of analysis without the worry of their data being compromised. Enterprise ensures any and all data integrated into the service is not used to train the AI, strictly used for business data analysis.
The CEO of Klarna, Sebastian Siemiatkowski, had this to say about the service: “With the integration of ChatGPT Enterprise, we're aimed at achieving a new level of employee empowerment, enhancing both our team's performance and the customer experience.”.
Enterprise launched on August 28th, 2023 and is available for business use at this time.
IBM Attempting To Revitalize The Watson Project By Building watsonx
IBM has recently begun the revitalization of their Watson Project by building what is now known as Watsonx. This is their AI variation of the question-answering computer system that was originally created in 2008. The Watson program uses over 100 different techniques to analyze natural language, identify sources, find and generate hypotheses, find and score evidence, and merge and rank hypotheses.
The Watson group originally created the program to see if it were possible to beat human contestants in the game show Jeopardy. After resounding success, the team was given three to five years to create a commercial variation of Watson with a larger team to help with decision making during lung cancer treatment.
With the addition of AI options to the Watson platform, watsonx promises to be IBM’s new major competitor in the artificial intelligence race. This new variation of the program gives access to AI assistant options to help scale and accelerate workflows. The goal here is to allow for easier access to artificial intelligence in different facets of businesses to help with efficiency while also being as transparent through governance application and data training.
Watsonx is based on the best open technologies today and is targeted towards businesses to cover enterprise use cases and compliance requirements. The new service has been received extremely well with future clients such as Samsung and Intel praising the platform for achieving breakthrough performance in their field.
Netflix Heading AI Battle With Software Engineering Pay Up To 900k
Netflix has recently posted a listing for a machine learning platform project manager with the base salary being anywhere from $300,000 to $900,000 respectively. The position requires applicants to measure the success of the machine learning platform and create a new strategic vision as well. Other companies such as Amazon have released similar listings around the same price point as well.
It is refreshing to see that larger companies such as Netflix and Amazon are still open to hiring new talent in the upcoming age of AI. These listings go to show that the notion that AI will quickly overtake the necessary job market is far from over. Based on the trends of these listings and how frequently they have been posted, it seems that the market will continue to increase substantially in order to keep up with other AI competitors.
