Why You Matter in The AI Boom

The Incoming Havoc of Morris II

Colloquially labeled as an ‘AI worm’, Cornell Tech researchers Ben Nassi, Stav Cohen and Ron Bitton have just artificially created such a worm called Morris II.

What is a worm, and specifically, this frightening ‘Morris II’ researchers are attempting to stave off? Fundamentally, a worm is no more than a mere computer virus, but Morris II has greater, more serious capabilities than, say, a Resident Virus.

Morris II has the ability to infiltrate generative AI assistants and spread mass emails, steal users’ data, leave spam messages, and infect them with malware. Assisted by generative AI, the researchers used an email plugged into Gemini and ChatGPT. They then proceeded to use a self-replicating prompt via text, and the same prompt embedded within an image.

So, what does this all mean in laymen’s terms and potential consequences?

When a computer is infected with the AI worm, not only is one’s personal data at serious risk. But, when they send an email to another person, that person in turn becomes infected. One can see why this is a problem.

Mass cyberattacks not seen before could arise in the future and, since no such AI generative worm has been found out-and-about as of yet, there are hardly any protective measures out there. Even ChatGPT and Gemini’s security methods fail at preventing it.

Nassi claims that it’s a short while to wait in order to see these worms pursue the public–estimating within the next three or so years.

The A.I. Boom and You: Recent Tech Innovations

We are all familiar with the applauded, praised and impressive ChatGPT, which is increasingly becoming ever-more advanced. Indeed, it’s hard not to see it pop up frequently on the news; however, there’s an endless flow of new AI technology that many may not know about. Here is a short list of useful AI applications recently put on the market.

1. DataRobot

For those needing help with their data analytics and predicted growth models, look no further than DataRobot. Incredibly useful for business analysis, data scientists and developers, DataRobot can cost a pretty penny: starting at $100,000.

2. Jupyter Notebooks

Are you new at coding? Need a little assistance in writing it? Jupyter Notebook allows you to write code cells and get output. That’s it! No extra code writing in-between. This application is particularly useful for data exploration, machine learning and algorithms.

3. H2O.ai

An end-to-end, open-source platform, H2O.ai is a fantastic tool for businesses seeking help with advertising, analytics, and general virtual assistance. H2O.ai trains ML models and is friendly to even the most inexperienced AI developers.

4. Chorus.ai

For business’s overwhelmed with calls, Chorus.ai assists in transcribing and recording calls in real-time, saving owner’s a huge deal of effort, time, hiring, and money.
